Ready Mix Concrete - Common Questions
How much notice do you need?
24 hours ideal, same-day often possible before 10am. Large pours (50m³+) need 48 hours. Saturday delivery available with notice.
Can you pump concrete to difficult areas?
Yes - line pumps reach 100m horizontally, 30m vertically. Through houses, over walls, up scaffold towers. Boom pumps for high-rise. Operator sorts the setup.
What if I don't know the exact quantity?
Volumetric trucks mix on site - pay for what you use. Or order 80% confirmed, add extra trucks if needed. Better than being short at 3pm.
How long have I got to place the concrete?
Standard mixes give you 2 hours from batching. Retarders add time for difficult pours. Hot weather? We'll adjust the mix. Cold? We've got accelerants.
Do you do fiber reinforcement?
Yes - polypropylene fibres for crack control, steel fibres for structural strength. Reduces shrinkage cracking, speeds up laying. About £8-15/m³ extra.
What's the minimum order?
2m³ minimum, but small load charge kicks in under 5m³. Sometimes worth combining jobs or going volumetric for tiny pours.
Can you do special mixes?
Waterproof concrete, rapid strength gain, sulfate resistant, lightweight - most things possible with notice. Specific slump? Different stone? Just specify when ordering.
What about testing?
Delivery tickets show batch details. Slump tests on site if needed. Cube tests arranged through approved labs. All mixes BSI certified to BS 8500-2:2015.
